An absolutely charming antique oil on board featuring four little Jack Russell or fox terrier puppies arranged in a sweet horizontal composition, each in a different pose. Signed in the lower right (appears to read S.E. Colby or similar). Late 19th to early 20th century, with the wonderful chippy paint loss in the lower left that collectors actually seek out for its authentic, well-loved antique character.
